Job Description
The Section of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as Section Chief. This is an exciting opportunity to nurture and lead a division and shape the future of interventional radiology within a nationally recognized academic health system.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and collegial department committed to clinical excellence, innovation, and academic advancement. When fully staffed, VIR will include over 10 interventional radiologists supported by a team of experienced advanced practice providers. Our practice spans three hospital sites, including the flagship University of Maryland Medical Center.
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills across the IR spectrum as well as an interest in practice building, programmatic development, and clinical expansion. Leaders should have a keen interest and aptitude in faculty recruitment, retention, and development.
The Division supports competitive ACGME-accredited integrated and independent IR residencies and successful candidates should have an interest in working with residents and fellows. Administrative time will be provided. There is support from the Chair for the research and educational missions. Specifics of administrative time, research, and educational support to be discussed with candidates.
Under new leadership, the Department is undergoing a dynamic transformation building on its longstanding legacy of excellence. The Department has a new competitive compensation plan coupled with a focus on faculty flexibility in schedules and staffing. Typical schedules consist of 15 weeks non-clinical time (academic, CME, and vacation) as well as 14 paid holidays! Compensation is competitive, with a signing bonus and performance-based incentives.
