Role Description

As we expand and evolve, we seek a dynamic and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team. This position offers hybrid flexibility (remote and onsite) for experienced healthcare finance leaders passionate about operational excellence and community health. The CFO provides financial leadership across the organization, ensuring fiscal responsibility, strategic budgeting, and compliance with FQHC requirements. This executive will play a vital role in maintaining regulatory standards (including HRSA and UDS), supporting operational decision-making, and aligning financial planning with the organization’s long-term goals.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive financial leadership in a FQHC or similar healthcare environment.
• Experience with HRSA grants , UDS reporting , and compliance regulations.
• Strong knowledge of non-profit healthcare financial management.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks, SAGE, or other accounting software tools used in healthcare settings.

Preferred:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) .
• Master’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or Public Health.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic and Operational Financial Leadership

• Develop and oversee the organization’s financial strategy, capital planning, and risk management.
• Guide multi-year budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with executive leadership.
• Present financial reports and analysis to the CEO and Board of Directors.

Grants & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure accuracy and compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and FQHC financial rules.
• Coordinate UDS report submissions and other federally required financial disclosures.
• Lead all financial aspects of HRSA grant management, including budgeting, allowable cost tracking, and timely reporting.
• Oversee accounting operations including GL, AR/AP, cash flow, payroll, and reconciliations.
• Supervise audit readiness, external audits (including Single Audits), and tax filings.
• Ensure internal controls and adherence to GAAP.

Systems & Tools

• Manage and optimize use of accounting systems such as QuickBooks , SAGE , or other financial platforms.
• Partner with IT and operations to integrate financial systems with EHR and other health center tools.

Leadership & Team Development

• Supervise and mentor the finance, accounting, and revenue cycle management team.
• Build a collaborative culture that promotes transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This role is hybrid: remote work with regular onsite presence as needed (e.g., board meetings, audits, leadership retreats).

Must be able to commute to St. Paul, MN.
