Senior Director of Finance (Chicago)

The Garrett Companies is seeking a Senior Director of Finance that will be responsible for overseeing and directing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and forecasting future financial growth. This role is pivotal in shaping the financial strategy, optimizing processes, and providing key insights to drive the company’s financial health and long-term growth.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist in the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and reports for shareholders and government agencies.
2. Monitor financial performance by comparing actual sales, profit figures, and expenses to projections and budgets, making adjustments as needed.
3. Evaluate and refine the company’s financial planning process, offering recommendations for improvement.
4. Assess the organization’s accounting function to identify areas for improvement, restructuring, or cost-cutting measures.
5. Collaborate with the CFO to establish business priorities and guide the strategic planning process.
6. Assist with WIP, job-costing, cashflow and other financial analysis.

1. Undergraduate and/or Master’s Degree in Accounting, or Finance required.
2. A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the construction industry or a related field.
3. Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
4. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
5. Expertise in financial management software, databases, and accounting systems.
6. Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate financial strategies to non-financial stakeholders.
