Director of 3PL Business Development
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Director of Business Development to join their dynamic team. This fully remote position reports to the VP of Sales. The role involves leveraging your transportation and sales experience within a transparent and open sales team culture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing and executing transportation solutions, working with cross-functional teams such as operations and pricing to craft custom proposals for large outsourcing engagements.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify potential clients and market segments.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve revenue targets.
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers.
- Identify and pursue partnerships with complementary organizations.
- Develop and implement sales strategies and processes.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and proposals.
- Negotiate and close complex deals.
- Manage the sales cycle from lead generation to closing.
- Stay informed about industry trends and developments.
- Analyze market data for emerging opportunities.
- Understand customer needs and pain points.
- Create business models in Excel for planning and iteration.
- Build relationships with new clients and pursue upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
- Travel up to 25% for industry events and tradeshows.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 7+ years in transportation/logistics sales.
- Experience in LTL and/or Final Mile logistics.
- Experience with outsourced/managed transportation solutions; Final Mile outsourcing is a plus.
- Knowledge of TMS or dispatch software.
- Proficiency in sales methodologies like consultative and solution selling.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with CRM and sales automation tools; HubSpot preferred.
- Self-motivated and independent worker.
