Position : Chief Clinical and Quality Officer
Reports to : Chief Executive Officer
Location : Based in CO/MD/VA with regular travel to facilities
Environment: Inpatient/Residential and/or Detoxification Treatment Centers
Compensation: $200,000 - $250,000 Annual Salary + Incentive Bonus (up to 25% of annual salary)

Position Overview : The Chief Clinical and Quality Officer (CCQO) is responsible for the design, planning and implementation of the Care Model for Sandstone Care. The role will oversee outcomes tracking, KPIs, and the development of tools to measure and demonstrate service fidelity across Clinical, Medical, and Nursing teams. In addition, they will identify the training objectives necessary across Medical, Nursing and Clinical teams and execute on supporting the organization in delivering onboarding and ongoing training protocols that allow Sandstone Care to achieve exceptional quality of care, as evidenced by outcomes data and relevant KPIs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Master’s degree with a clinical licensure, PhD preferred.
Training & Experience:
- 15+ years’ experience in clinical leadership roles in the healthcare space.
- Must have progressive leadership experience in behavioral health.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
- Directly supervise the Clinical, Medical, Nursing, Research, and Outcomes departments, supporting them in delivering care that aligns with the established model of care.
- Work in close partnership with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to shape and execute impactful medical strategies that support Sandstone Care’s mission of treating individuals with dual diagnoses and mood disorders across all levels of care.
- Lead the care teams—including Medical, Clinical, Nursing, Research and Outcomes, in developing annual strategic plans for each department that align with the organization’s overarching quality objectives. The CCQO is responsible for ensuring these plans are executed according to the timelines outlined in each strategic plan.
- Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer and the VP of Operations, to implement formal performance improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma strategies. These initiatives address performance areas related to care delivery that fall short of established thresholds.
- Evaluate best-in-class, evidence-based strategies and corresponding training and development models to ensure fidelity in care delivery. This includes reviewing onboarding content and ongoing facility-specific training to enhance clinical skillsets over time.
- Prepare and present progress reports to the board as appropriate, guiding them through organizational strategies.
- Lead organization-wide projects and perform other responsibilities as required.
