Kured Charcuterie Store Manager
Full-time
Kured is the first quick-service charcuterie café concept located in Beacon Hill (we also have a shop in NYC!). We started as the “Sweetgreen” or “Chipotle” for charcuterie boards, and have since expanded into gourmet sandwiches, brunch, coffee, and all-things charcuterie small-bites! We garner inspiration from Madrid and the social-oriented culture of Europe, where it is commonplace to eat charcuterie with friends, and reminisce in good company. Our goal is to make charcuterie more accessible to people, and power conversation among our customers.
We’re looking for a store manager to join our Kured family and oversee our Boston operation. This starts with our flagship store in Beacon Hill, and eventually will include oversight to other Boston locations as we expand. Our store managers are the heart of our business, not only at the store level but community-wide in Boston. The ideal candidate leads enthusiastically, is a great community ambassador, skilled people developer, entrepreneurial, great at multitasking and priority management, has high personal standards, and is warm and genuine. As a startup, your work will be instrumental to both daily operations and long-term growth across the Boston restaurant ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Lead by example and be a role model for the standards consistent with Kured’s core values (i.e openness, being a team player, empowering authenticity, facilitating conversation, supporting farmers)
- Ensures our stores are optimally staffed with talented staff at all levels (shift leaders, store associates, catering managers, and Kured chefs). If not, actively recruits, trains, coaches, motivates and develops staff properly.
- Demonstrates exceptional people performance management skills, with effective abilities to communicate with staff and let them know their expectations for the day, week, and month ahead
- Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills. Is able to diagnose and fix issues that arise at the field level with a focus on store performance issues to ensure most pressing issues are addressed first.
- Ability to make best business decisions using financial models and budget tracking systems currently in place
- Ability to use data to close gaps between actual performance and company guardrails
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs - willingness to get your hands dirty despite manager title, and work the line, cash register, or prep station if need be and support staff ongoing throughout the day
- Ability to use technology to optimize our processes and create greater automation
- Financially literate to manage a P&L
- Maintain exceptional food safety and security standards
- Contribute ideas, thoughts and solutions that result in increased productivity, higher retention and improved operations
- +2 years of food-service experience in a management position
- Experience at a quick service restaurant is a plus, but not a requirement
- Experience with hiring and training
- Experience with scheduling
- Experience with conflict resolution
- Experience with ordering is a plus, but not a requirement
- Understanding of a store level PnL and budget tracking systems
- Experience with meeting sales and cost targets
- A passion for food or restaurant operations
- Ability to work well under pressure in a feedback-oriented, fast paced, ever changing work environment
- A can-do work ethic and ability to take initiative as a leader
- High attention to detail and well-versed in communication
- 40+ hours per week, including a combination of at least 35 hours in the store and remote work
- $60k-70k base per year depending on experience
- Discretionary bonus contingent on meeting store goals for sales and costs (up to $10-20k in variable opportunity based on current store unit economics, with the potential to continue growing over time.)
