Outpatient Occupational Therapist OR Physical Therapist | Lymphedema

Avera Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Outpatient Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist with a strong interest or background in lymphedema management to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team.

Based within our regional health system serving communities across the Upper Midwest, this therapist will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient setting, helping individuals with lymphedema and related conditions improve function, reduce symptoms, and enhance their overall quality of life.

In this role, you will perform comprehensive evaluations, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions, including complete decongestive therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, therapeutic exercise, compression bandaging, skin care education, and functional training.

You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, oncology teams, wound care specialists, and other therapists to coordinate care and ensure optimal outcomes, while maintaining thorough and timely documentation within our electronic medical record system.

Guided by Avera Health’s culture of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship, you will build trusting relationships with patients and families, provide education on self-management strategies and use of compression garments, and support patients through all phases of their recovery.

You will also play a key role in patient and community education about lymphedema risk reduction, early detection, and long-term management, particularly for individuals affected by cancer treatment, vascular conditions, trauma, or chronic disease.

As part of a collaborative outpatient therapy team, you will participate in interdisciplinary case discussions, contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives, and share best practices in lymphedema care and general rehabilitation.
