Surgical Technician, Certified
Job Description
Community Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Certified Surgical Technician to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team and support our busy surgical department.
As an integral member of the operating room team, you will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other clinical professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care for patients across a wide range of specialties.
In this role, you will prepare the operating room before each procedure by gathering, organizing, and arranging surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to the specific needs of the surgical team and established protocols.
You will establish and maintain a sterile field, adhere strictly to aseptic techniques, and anticipate the needs of the surgeon during the procedure by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies in a timely and precise manner.
The Surgical Technician will assist with patient positioning and surgical site preparation, participate in pre-operative time-outs, and help ensure that all safety and identification procedures are followed.
You will perform accurate counts of sponges, instruments, and sharps with the circulating nurse, document appropriately, and help prevent retained surgical items.
Responsibilities also include the safe handling, labeling, and transport of specimens, care and operation of surgical equipment, and assisting with room turnover between cases, including cleaning, restocking, and reconfiguring the room to meet the requirements of the next procedure.
You will contribute to infection prevention and control by following all hospital and regulatory guidelines, reporting any breaks in technique, and supporting continuous quality improvement efforts in the operating room.
As part of the culture at Community Medical Center, you will be encouraged to collaborate, communicate effectively, and participate in continuous learning.
You will engage in ongoing education to stay current with new surgical techniques, equipment, and best practices, and may assist with orienting and mentoring new staff or students.
This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced surgical technology in a supportive, patient-centered environment where compassionate care, teamwork, and innovation are highly valued.
The ideal candidate is a certified surgical technologist who is detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and committed to delivering excellent care during routine and emergent surgical procedures.
This is an on-site clinical role requiring flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed to support the needs of the surgical services department.
