Job DescriptionMcLeod Health is seeking a dedicated and motivated Physician Assistant to join our growing Foot & Ankle Orthopedic team at McLeod Orthopedics Seacoast & Carolina Forest.
This role provides the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care within a well-established practice supported by a collaborative team of physicians, APPs, and clinical staff.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Provide comprehensive Foot & Ankle orthopedic care, including postoperative management, established patient follow-ups, new patient evaluations, and acute walk-in visits.
Collaborate closely with supervising physician for Orthopedics/Foot & Ankle, supporting a high-volume clinical practice.
Team Composition
Work within a robust orthopedic group that includes 9 physicians, 6 APPs, and 2-3 medical assistants, supported by front-office staff.
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
Patient Mix
Post-operative visits
35-45% Established non-operative visits
25-30% New patient evaluations
10-15% Acute walk-ins/urgent issues
15-20% Daily Patient Volume
20-25 patients per day in a primarily outpatient setting (80-90% outpatient, ~10% inpatient).
Participate in a structured onboarding program, including system orientation, Epic training, shadowing with the supervising physician, and gradual progression from post-op and established patient visits to independent new-patient care as competency increases.
Call Schedule
Daytime call only , shared among the Physician Assistants in the practice.
Call involves routine orthopedic issues with escalation to the supervising physician as needed.
Qualifications
New graduates accepted; orthopedic experience preferred but not required.
Ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment while maintaining excellent patient rapport and communication.
Strong skills in clinical assessment, documentation, time management, and care coordination.
Commitment to providing patient-centered, evidence-based orthopedic care.
