Dedicated Backhaul Shuttle Driver

Performance Foodservice, a leading national food distributor delivering more than 150,000 food and food-related products to customers across the United States, is seeking a safety-focused Dedicated Backhaul Shuttle Driver to support our Transportation & Logistics team.

In this role, you will operate a designated regional shuttle and backhaul route, moving trailers of food and beverage products, packaging materials, and return goods between company distribution centers, customer locations, and vendor facilities.

You will be responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transport of refrigerated, frozen, and dry products while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, product integrity, and customer service.As a Dedicated Backhaul Shuttle Driver, you will complete daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, documenting and reporting any mechanical or safety concerns in compliance with DOT and company standards.

You will verify and reconcile bills of lading, manifests, and backhaul documentation, ensuring accurate counts and proper trailer utilization.

You will secure loads, monitor temperatures when required, and follow strict sanitation protocols to protect product quality throughout each trip.

Using ELDs, onboard computers, and routing tools, you will manage your hours of service, communicate with dispatch, and maintain detailed, compliant electronic logs.This position requires professional communication and coordination with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and, at times, customers to manage pick-up windows, appointment times, and any unexpected delays.

You may utilize pallet jacks, lift gates, and related material handling equipment to assist with moving freight in a safe and controlled manner.
