Sr Systems Engineer Radar System Design

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer – Radar System Design to lead the architecture, development, and integration of advanced radar systems that support critical Defense & Aerospace missions.

In this Engineering & Design role, you will be a key technical leader responsible for translating complex mission needs into robust radar solutions across the full systems engineering lifecycle.

You will define radar system architectures, allocate requirements, and guide the design of RF front-ends, signal processing chains, waveforms, tracking algorithms, and control architectures for airborne, ground, or maritime platforms.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams in hardware, software, integration and test, you will perform performance modeling, simulation, and trade studies to optimize detection, tracking, clutter rejection, and electronic protection capabilities under challenging operational environments.

You will lead requirements development and management, interface definition, and verification planning, ensuring traceability from customer needs through final system qualification.

Using tools such as MATLAB or Python, you will analyze radar performance, generate design specifications, and support algorithm refinement.

You will contribute to model-based systems engineering activities, develop documentation and technical reviews, and mentor junior engineers in best practices for radar system design.

This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a hybrid work environment, coordinating with internal teams, customers, and suppliers while upholding Lockheed Martin’s culture of integrity, innovation, inclusivity, and teamwork.

You will help sustain and enhance existing radar products as well as shape next-generation sensor capabilities, supporting integration and test campaigns, anomaly resolution, and continuous performance improvement.
