Job Description
We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Neurosurgeon for a locum tenens opportunity in Alexandria, Louisiana. This position offers 12 shifts per month covering inpatient neurosurgical services and unassigned ER call at a Level II Trauma Center. The assignment is initially for 3 months, with the possibility of extension or ongoing coverage. Position Details: Duration: 3 months, with potential for ongoing need Schedule: 12 shifts per month 24-hour call coverage required for unassigned ER and inpatient neurosurgery service Post-operative clinic coverage also required Setting: Hospital-based (Inpatient) Trauma Designation: Level II Trauma Center Average Daily Volume: ~10 patients EMR: eClinicalWorks Key Responsibilities: Provide 24-hour unassigned emergency room call coverage Perform inpatient neurosurgical consults, procedures, and follow-up Manage trauma, spine, and cranial cases as appropriate Conduct post-op clinic visits for surgical patients Collaborate with hospital staff and maintain timely documentation Requirements: Bord Certified or Board Eligible in Neurological Surgery – Required Active Louisiana medical license – Required DEA & Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) – Required Prior experience with inpatient neurosurgery and trauma call preferred Located in central Louisiana, Alexandria offers a welcoming community, affordable living, and access to both southern charm and outdoor recreation.
