Department/Unit Summary An Oncology Nurse is a compassionate and highly skilled healthcare professional who specializes in caring for patients with cancer. They play a crucial role in providing medical treatment, emotional support, and education to patients and their families throughout the cancer journey, from diagnosis to treatment and beyond. Oncology nurses administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other cancer treatments while closely monitoring patients for side effects and complications. They manage symptoms such as pain, nausea, and fatigue, ensuring patients maintain the best possible quality of life during treatment. Additionally, they provide education about treatment plans, side effect management, and coping strategies, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their care. Beyond their clinical expertise, oncology nurses offer emotional support and guidance, building strong relationships with patients and families during an often challenging and emotional time. They collaborate with oncologists, radiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care. Additional requirements include: Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire. ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
