Job Description
RN PACU, FT at Los Alamos Medical Center summary: The RN PACU at Los Alamos Medical Center provides high-quality post-anesthesia care including medication administration, patient monitoring, and clinical treatments. This role involves documenting patient care, assisting with daily living activities, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and educating patients and families. The position requires critical thinking, minimal supervision, and current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS/ENPC, with licensure valid in New Mexico or through RN Compact licensure. Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Qualifications: Minimum Education Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) current upon hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)/ENPC must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Newly graduated RNs must have current BLS upon hire, must obtain ACLS and PALS/ENPC within six months from hire. New hires will have ninety (90) days from date of hire to obtain American Heart Association certifications. Notwithstanding this 'grace period' for obtaining American Heart Association certifications, employees are not excused from being current in any and all existing certifications that are required for their position as outlined in the position job description. Licenses: Current NM licensure or appropriate RN Compact licensure.
