Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 10/20/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with a Michigan license, BLS certification, and experience caring for neurological and post-op patients for a night shift assignment. Responsibilities Work in a 40-bed medical surgical unit specializing in neurological disorders and post-operative spinal surgeries Patient population includes stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, neuro- and ortho-surgery, laminectomy, spinal fusion, and bariatric care Unit includes step-down/telemetry beds and a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit for patients age 5 and older Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 Uses EPIC EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30) Required to work every other weekend May float to other Med/Surg, ICU Units, and ED waiting rooms Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurological conditions and post-surgical needs Float assignments prioritized to travelers as necessary Must complete non-billable modules during orientation and annually Orientation includes 8 hours of self-reported modules No holiday requests permitted, but dates may be discussed with manager for unit coverage Return staff eligible after 6 months Requirements Active Michigan RN license required Current BLS (AHA) certification required NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required or willing to obtain before start 1-2 years of Med/Surg RN experience preferred; minimum 1 year required Experience with neurological and post-operative patient care preferred Experience with EPIC EMR and Pyxis preferred Flu vaccination proof required, or exemption documentation within 48 hours of contract signing Professional references required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P- .
