Summary Under limited supervision assists in management and planning related to the Transportation Bond program and provides recommendations regarding efficiencies in the operation of the Transportation Department.

Conducts periodic subdivision plat reviews; traffic impact assessments (TIA) reviews and assists in identifying long-range needs related to inter-department Transportation operations.

Follows funding avenues promulgated through local, state, and federal agencies including CAMPO and TXDOT.

Explores possible partnerships with cities within Hays County regarding transportation, park development, trails development, natural resource protection, and preservation of open spaces.

Works with other County staff to optimize funding of special projects.

Develops interlocal agreements with entities as needed.

Responsibilities Follows and reports on all aspects of the Transportation Bond program including progress of design, status of construction, and overall cash flow of the program.

Assists with the subdivision review process; interprets County development regulations and procedures as related to Transportation issues.

Reviews to a limited extent road construction specifications and plans and other information to determine compliance with County construction standards.

Assists applicants in coordinating interactions between the Development Service Department and the Transportation Department.

Responds to inquiries from developers, government officials, and the public regarding Transportation issues.

Interprets state and local regulations.

Proposes solutions or alternatives related to the published Transportation Master Plan.

Prepares and presents reports on Transportation related issues to the Commissioners Court.

Prepares Transportation related agenda items for Commissioners Court consideration.

Researches deeds and plats.

Performs site visits and inspections to assess project status and impact.

Meets with property owners, contractors, and engineers.

Assesses Transportation planning needs and requirements.

Develops and implements advanced planning projects such as future Bond election information.

Compiles reports and documentation for use in planning and policy formulation and development.

Works with outside entities, community groups, consultants, county staff, and other stakeholders in the coordination of the Transportation Master Plan.

Represents Hays County with a variety of regional planning efforts.

Interpret, apply and explain laws, rules, regulations and ordinances.

Prepare concise written and oral reports.

Participate in planning presentations and public involvement sessions.

Provide services to the public in a courteous and effective manner.

Participate cooperatively and effectively as a contributing team member.

Produce acceptable work commensurate with the level of appointment in an acceptable timeframe.

Learn to input, retrieve and analyze data using a computer.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Education and/or Experience Each additional year of experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

Three years' experience in county or municipal planning or related field.

Other Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Class C Texas driver's license.
