Up to ~50% About the Role A nationwide telecommunications construction and engineering organization is seeking an experienced Fiber Design Engineer (OSP) to support large-scale fiber network deployment projects in the Phoenix, AZ market.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, planning, and execution of outside plant (OSP) fiber networks, working closely with construction, preconstruction, and engineering teams.

The position blends technical design, RFQ support, and field collaboration across complex fiber builds.

What You’ll Do Assist with the design and planning of fiber and telecommunications networks for construction projects Support third-party engineering, design, and permitting partners to meet schedules and budgets Participate in RFQs , including technical input, cost estimation, and scope development Perform spatial analysis and modeling for route optimization, signal strength, risk, and cost analysis Support deployment planning for fiber optics, cabling, and related infrastructure Collaborate with internal teams and customers to define detailed scopes of work Serve as a technical resource, helping stakeholders understand network design decisions and functionality Attend field visits and pre-bid meetings as needed Maintain accurate documentation of designs, configurations, and updates Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety, and regulatory requirements Participate in coordination meetings between operations and preconstruction teams Stay current on evolving network technologies and best practices Perform additional duties as assigned What We’re Looking For 5 years of experience in network engineering, GIS engineering, or telecom OSP design Experience within the telecommunications construction industry strongly preferred Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience) Certifications such as CCNA / CCNP are a plus Strong understanding of

• Fiber optic networks and OSP design Network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.) Geospatial data, spatial analysis, and visualization tools Experience contributing to RFQs and project bids Ability to manage network-related projects from concept through deployment Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Comfortable operating in fast-paced construction environments Willingness to travel up to ~50% Company Description
