Up to £65.00 per hour (Umbrella)OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join a leading Energy Transition team, supporting the delivery of innovative, low-carbon and energy infrastructure projects across the UK and beyond.This role will involve taking a technical leadership position within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, contributing to projects from early-stage feasibility through to detailed design, construction, and operational support.You will play a key role in developing high-quality electrical engineering solutions across a diverse range of energy sector projects, including emerging and first-of-a-kind technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support the development of cost-effective and innovative electrical engineering solutions across multidisciplinary project teamsDeliver electrical engineering work across all project stages, including:Feasibility studiesConcept designFEEDValue engineeringDetailed designDevelop key electrical deliverables including:Single line diagrams (SLDs)Cable calculationsCable block diagramsPlant layouts and cable routing designsContainment designsSwitchgear configuration philosophiesBills of materials and quantitiesCollaborate with equipment vendors to develop package designs and support technical evaluationsSupport assessment of electrical assets in construction or operation, identifying performance risks and improvement opportunitiesContribute to proposals, bids, and multidisciplinary tender submissionsProvide technical leadership within EC&I electrical engineering disciplineRequired Skills & ExperienceDegree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related disciplineSignificant post-graduate experience in electrical design, operation, maintenance, or testingChartered Engineer status (or working towards IEng/CEng) with a relevant professional institutionStrong understanding of power and energy project design, construction, and operationProven ability to develop electrical engineering deliverables or assess operational/installed assetsExperience with medium and high-voltage systems, including commissioning, operation, maintenance, and testingStrong understanding of engineering design processes, including:Design scope developmentEngineering calculationsTechnical documentationExperience working within multidisciplinary engineering environmentsProject ScopeProjects will support the Energy Transition and low-carbon infrastructure sector, including:Renewable and low-carbon energy systemsPower generation and distribution infrastructureIndustrial and energy process facilitiesFirst-of-a-kind and emerging energy technologiesFull lifecycle delivery from concept through to decommissioningYou will work alongside developers, utilities, EPC contractors, OEMs, government bodies, and financial stakeholders.Additional InformationRemote working with occasional travel to UK office locationsExposure to major energy transition programmes and advanced technologiesCollaborative multidisciplinary engineering environmentOpportunity to take technical leadership within EC&I disciplineSummaryThis is an excellent opportunity for a senior Electrical Engineer to take a leading role in delivering complex, high-impact energy transition projects, helping shape the future of safe, efficient, and low-carbon infrastructure.
