We are looking for an SEO Director / Head of SEO to take ownership of this channel and push it forward.The RoleThis is a senior role with real influence across the business.

You will shape how SEO/GEO is delivered at Eastside Co, while still being close enough to the work to ensure quality and results.You will lead a growing team, work closely with other departments, and play a key role in client relationships.

The focus is on delivering meaningful commercial impact, not just rankings or traffic.This role would suit someone who enjoys building and improving things, not just maintaining what already exists.This role is based in the UK.Key ResponsibilitiesSEO Strategy and Client LeadershipOwn SEO/GEO/AEO strategy across a portfolio of ecommerce clientsBuild clear, actionable, commercially focused and forward-looking SEO roadmaps aligned to client goalsAct as a senior point of contact for key clientsEnsure SEO activity is demonstrably relatable to measurable performance outcomes such as revenue and growthDelivery and QualityStay involved in delivery where needed, particularly on complex or high-value accountsOversee technical SEO, content strategy and link acquisition activityEnsure best practice across Shopify sites, including migrations and structural changesOversee platform migrations from other technologies to Shopify, safeguarding organic visibilityProduce clear, insight-driven monthly reports that demonstrate progress and valueMaintain and ensure a consistently high standard of output across all work and the work of direct reportsTeam LeadershipLead and develop the SEO teamSupport hiring as the function growsSet clear expectations and create a strong performance cultureHelp individuals progress and improve their skillsProposition DevelopmentEvolve the SEO proposition for Eastside in line with market developments (particularly focused around evolving role of AI (GEO/AEO) as a channel)Define how SEO should be delivered for modern ecommerce brandsDevelop and implement, as well as follow processes, frameworks and ways of workingIdentify opportunities to continue to improve integration SEO with other channels such as paid media and CROKeep the agency up to date with changes in search and ecommerceCommercial ContributionSupport new business pitches and proposalsActively identify opportunities to grow existing accountsContribute to revenue growth through strong performance and client relationshipsHelp evolve the positioning of SEO as a core part of the agency’s offerWhat We’re Looking ForExperienceStrong background in SEO, ideally within an agency or ecommerce environment (5+ years experience)Proven experience delivering organic growth for ecommerce brandsSolid technical SEO knowledge including crawling, indexing and site structureDemonstrable success of delivering SEO work through automation, processes and technology adoption/developmentGood understanding of content strategy and authority buildingExperience working with Shopify is a strong advantageInquisitive and Leadership and ApproachExperience leading or mentoring othersComfortable switching between strategy and hands-on workCommercial mindset with a focus on outcomes, not just activityA natural problem solver who enjoys providing solutions for clients.A confident, dynamic, engaging and authentic communicator who cares about the quality of work and continuous learningPassionate about growing the knowledge of those around youExcellent presentation skills and strong data analysis and reporting skillsStrong attention to detail, methodical and process orientatedTools and SkillsExperience with GA4, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush and Screaming FrogWorking knowledge of HTMLAble to explain SEO clearly to non-specialistsFamiliarity and experience with Shopify preferableWhy Join Eastside CoOpportunity to take ownership of SEO within a growing agencyWork with ecommerce brands that are serious about scalingBe part of a collaborative and performance-focused teamFlexible and fully remote workingBenefitsCompetitive salary depending on experience (up to £65k depending on experience)25 days holiday plus bank holidays and a Christmas shutdown, increasing with tenurePrivate health insuranceCompany pensionEnhanced maternity and paternity leaveFlexible remote workingGym membership discountPaid bereavement leaveSick pay allowance that increases with tenure
