Position Overview:
The Concrete Superintendent will manage all aspects of concrete operations on construction projects. This includes planning, coordination, and supervision of concrete-related activities to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to safety and quality standards. The role requires fluency in two languages (commonly English and Spanish) to effectively communicate with labor teams, subcontractors, and project management teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Oversight:
- Supervise all on-site concrete operations, including formwork, reinforcing, placing, and finishing.
- Ensure that work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and local codes.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to resolve issues or changes in the project scope.
2. Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a diverse workforce, including subcontractors, laborers, and skilled tradespeople.
- Communicate project goals, deadlines, and safety requirements clearly in both languages (commonly English and Spanish).
- Monitor productivity and work quality, providing feedback and guidance to improve performance.
3. Scheduling and Coordination:
- Develop and manage concrete work schedules, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Coordinate material deliveries and ensure that resources (e.g., concrete, equipment) are available as needed.
- Collaborate with other trades to ensure seamless integration of concrete work with the overall project timeline.
4. Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Train workers on safe practices, equipment use, and emergency procedures in their preferred language.
5. Quality Control:
- Oversee quality assurance processes for concrete work, including testing and inspection of materials.
- Ensure that finished work meets design specifications, strength requirements, and aesthetic standards.
- Identify and address potential issues early to avoid costly rework or delays.
6. Communication:
- Serve as the primary liaison between project management, subcontractors, and labor teams.
- Ensure that all communications regarding project scope, schedule changes, and safety are clearly understood by the team in both languages.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual proficiency: Fluent in both English and Spanish.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in concrete construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of concrete construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to adapt to changing project conditions.
