Director, Brand Strategy - Athleta (San Francisco based)
About the Role
The strategy team is responsible for defining and evolving our overall brand strategy, long-range plan, and annual operating plan. We identify growth opportunities to create structural advantages and support our C-Level executives in key stakeholder meetings. In this role, you'll help define the best growth path for our brand through rigorous analysis, customer and competitor focus, creative thinking, and cross-functional collaboration. You will drive critical projects to advance strategic priorities, growth, and long-range plans in partnership with brand leaders and stakeholders across the company.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a strategic leader and cross-functional thought partner in developing multi-year strategies, long-range plans, and annual operating plans.
- Drive Gap Inc.'s corporate and brand strategy initiatives by identifying key issues, structuring problems, developing work plans that create value, analyzing data, building financial models, and conducting market and competitive research. Synthesize findings and communicate recommendations to senior management.
- Partner with Merchandising to identify product growth opportunities and develop business plans for expansion.
- Support cross-functional teams with analytical insights and problem-solving.
- Build cross-functional partnerships and consensus.
- Influence strategic direction for the team.
Who You Are
- Professional experience in apparel, preferably with merchandising and go-to-market experience; MBA is preferred.
- Proven track record as a problem solver and strategic thinker, capable of quickly identifying key issues and developing hypotheses.
- Ability to translate complex ideas into simple, actionable recommendations.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with experience guiding cross-functional teams or junior members.
- Strong business acumen related to consumer-facing businesses and understanding of decision impacts on overall performance.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to influence senior executives.
- Collaborative team player with a willingness to work across functions.
