Work on the Corporate Sales and Structuring team that provides a markets-based suite of risk management solutions through derivative products with the bank’s U.S Commercial clients. The product suite will primarily focus on structuring solutions addressing Foreign Exchange (“FX”) needs. Interest Rate (“IR”) structuring experience will also prove valuable. The team provides hedging transactions to facilitate client demands along with identifying client needs and offering bespoke solutions that differentiate BMO from other organizations. This team interacts with internal stakeholders to build a harmonized strategy on risk management solutions while also working with external clients to present these solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Operates as a key member of the Execution and Structuring desk through FX trade execution, the structuring of trade ideas to commercial clients, education of hedge products to both internal and external stakeholders and sustaining/managing existing client relationships.
- Leverage the knowledge of FX products to provide bespoke solutions to the bank’s commercial clients.
- Generate educational material, charts and graphs creation and any other self-driven initiatives in partnership with senior marketers for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide comprehensive account management and client development along with responding to inquiries from clients or internal bankers to determine innovative solutions.
- Work closely with the trading desk during client executions to ensure the appropriate measures are taking place to protect the bank.
- Continuously develop market knowledge to independently create pitch and marketing material that can be leveraged by the team and provide thorough and well thought out solutions specific to client FX concerns.
- Understand the needs of clients and provide relevant ideas and opinions while structuring creative solutions using FX products (purchased/sold options, TARFs, forwards, restructurings of existing hedges…etc).
- Coordinate with bankers and clients on the onboarding process ensuring all regulatory requirements are addressed before clients are in position to execute trades.
- Execute FX trades with clients that range from vanilla to exotic option structures.
- Identify and leverage key decision makers and influencers with the intention of building and growing both internal and external relationships.
- Navigate through financial statements, financial reports, and legal documents in order to better serve client needs and identify opportunities.
- Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to educate and explain complex products to a wide client base with varying backgrounds.
- Use analytical skills and apply appropriate technical concepts and complete/lead consistent and reliable technical and financial reports/analyses to support client deliverables.
- Learn and understand the internal systems used for client trading and risk management monitoring.
- Understand the complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal / compliance, etc.).
- Consider risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Broad work or accountabilities may be assigned or arise as needed.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 - 10 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Degree in Accounting/Economics/Mathematics/Engineering, CFA is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of capital markets, pricing, and sales/trading/hedging strategies.
- Experience with structuring FX solutions for commercial clients, including the use of options is an essential asset to this role.
- Understanding CVA, FVA and XVA and its implications when pricing deals.
- Ability to exercise judgement to identify, diagnose and solve problems within given rules.
- Working knowledge of financial markets (interest rates, foreign exchange) with previous exposure to the financial markets and/or analysis gained through a combination of work and educational qualifications is required.
- Strong understanding of broader regulatory and financial concepts.
- Extensive experience in trading or sales procedures and broader regulatory and financial concepts.
- Advanced deal execution and/or project management skills - ability to manage multiple client / major initiatives at the same time.
- Advanced understanding of client FX hedging needs across different industries.
- Strong financial analysis, risk management and relationship management skills.
- Verbal & written communication skills, collaboration & team skills - In-depth.
