Adjunct Lecturer, The Authentic Leader (Fall '25)
Columbia University School of Professional Studies
Job Description
The School of Professional Studies at Columbia University seeks a part-time lecturer to teach a graduate-level leadership course called The Authentic Leader, in the school’s Master of Science degree program in Strategic Communication .
This course focuses on leadership as a dynamic, relational process that unfolds through communication between organizational actors. It explores three key dimensions of leadership:authenticity, empathy, and social influence. Through interdisciplinary study, self-assessment, and teamwork, students gain important perspective on leadership styles and begin to adopt critical leadership attitudes, developing their own authentic voices. In this highly applied class, students master the competencies required for varying contexts of leadership communication by actually leading many class activities, including formal team discussions. They become increasingly “self authoring” contributors to their organizations and causes, no matter their current status or title. In this course, students gain the self-confidence to confront challenges, take risks, and learn from mistakes.
The course will be taught on our Morningside Heights campus during the fall '25 semester: from September 2nd (first day of classes) to December 19th (last day for final exams).
