The Primary Companies is a diverse company that is comprised of five branches: Primary Transportation Services , an asset-based trucking company, Primary Freight , a freight brokerage with ten agent branches across the U.S., Primary Products , a pallet manufacturer, Primary Saw & Timber , a sawmill, and Primary Investment Group , a property management company in Northeast Wisconsin. All branches are headquartered in Brillion, WI. Each branch works together to provide comprehensive service solutions for a variety of logistical and operational needs.
Role Description
This is a commission only, remote contract role for a Freight Agent with the ability to work anywhere in the United States of America. The Freight Agent will be responsible for creating and maintaining valuable relationships with clients and customers to establish their own book of business, in order to coordinate and manage the logistics and transportation of goods. Daily tasks include prospecting, cold calling leads, booking shipments, negotiating rates with carriers, ensuring timely delivery of cargo, and maintaining communication with clients and transportation providers. The role involves preparing and handling necessary documentation, monitoring shipment status, and resolving any issues that may arise during transit.
Compensation:
- Uncapped Commission
- Weekly Pay based on loads delivered the week prior
Qualifications
- Past experience in supply chain management, logistics, or transportation
- Knowledge of freight brokerage and transportation logistics
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure
- Experience in customer service and client relationship management
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Previous experience in freight brokerage or transportation is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Manage your book of Customers; maintain & develop your existing accounts and prospect for new accounts
- Ability and desire to provide exceptional service to customers and carriers by taking ownership of shipments through their entire lifecycle
- Negotiate price and cost of carrier services
- Professional collaboration and coordination with shippers, carriers, and dispatchers
- Understand market trends and conditions to offer competitive solutions to our customers
