Land Development Engineer

Position Overview:

The Land Development Engineer / Project Manager will oversee the design and management of land development projects from initial feasibility studies through permitting and construction. The ideal candidate will possess strong civil design expertise, project management skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, clients, municipalities, and contractors.

Responsibilities:

Engineering Responsibilities (Engineer focus)

• Perform civil site design for grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and stormwater management systems
• Prepare and review construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Conduct due diligence and feasibility studies for site development
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and standards
• Coordinate with surveyors, architects, and subconsultants for complete design packages

Project Management Responsibilities (PM focus)

• Lead land development projects from concept through construction
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
• Serve as primary client contact and maintain strong client relationships
• Oversee permitting and regulatory approval processes
• Direct and mentor junior engineers and technical staff

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred (or ability to obtain)
• 4+ years of experience in land development, site/civil design, or project management
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or other design software
• Strong knowledge of local land use regulations, zoning, and permitting processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
