Company/Role Overview:
CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) CLA Search has been retained by NDI New Mexico to identify a Director of Operations to serve their team. NDI New Mexico is founded with the knowledge that the arts have a unique power to engage and motivate children. The purpose of our distinctive programs is to help children develop discipline, a standard of excellence, and a belief in themselves that will carry over into all aspects of their lives.
The Director of Operations (DOO) is responsible for connecting high-level strategic objectives with the day-to-day operations to ensure effectiveness and alignment across departments and teams. The DOO optimizes company-wide performance and internal business processes within the organization including administration, information technology, facilities, and capital projects.
The Director of Operations identifies process improvements and operational bottlenecks and recommends strategic growth and change initiatives. The Director of Operations will collaborate and report directly to the Executive Director on all business matters and lead a team of three while providing oversight to vendors. The DOO is a member of the senior management team and will monitor and manage company performance.

What You’ll Do:
- Provide tactical and transformational leadership of NDI entire operations. Specifically, Information Technology,
- Facilities, Capital Improvements, and other special projects and initiatives.
- Develop an annual operating plan that is aligned with the NDI’s strategic direction and long-range plans.
- Design and lead an organizational change effort to integrate the new Director of Operations role and responsibilities for all leaders, managers, staff, and the Board.
- Serve as Project Manager to ensure all project execution efforts align with goals, recommend corrective actions, meet milestones, budget, and scheduled targets.
- Oversee and bridge Santa Fe and Albuquerque’s day-to-day operations, through functional process management, support an open-door policy and collaboration among all staff.
- Create and implement operations strategy and policies and create organization-wide communications strategy for compliance.
- Implement technology improvements and train all staff on systems and procedures.
- Direct the planning and implementation of business activities while ensuring operational excellence and efficiency and high performance by the overall team.
- Foster employee alignment with organizational goals. Motivate and inspire the team to higher levels of efficiency to improve performance and reduce workload capacity challenges.
- Lead the creation and implementation of an organizational performance measurement process that tracks and evaluates company progress against LRP goals and departmental goals outlined in operational plans. i.e., OKR process; strategic scorecard, etc.
- Define operational goals/priorities and ensure that the organization works towards achieving them; meet quarterly Objectives KPIs and key strategic roadmap deliverables.
Leadership Management & Collaboration
- Serve as a key member of the senior management team.
- Participate in senior level leadership meetings to ensure alignment in the execution of NDI’s strategy.
- Liaise with all senior leadership team members to ensure a consistent approach to running NDI with continuous improvement and levelling-up to unlock the next stage of impact.
- Collaborate with internal key stakeholders to resolve issues and to build consensus.
Risk Management
- Oversee legal affairs and contracts.
- Direct risk management strategies, insurance, and planning including managing lease(s) for facilities.
- Retain and manage external counsel on a range of organizational matters.
- Negotiate and draft complex agreements including technology acquisition and strategic business partnerships.
Hiland Theater
- Oversee business operations in an effort to increase earned income in Albuquerque.
- Lead the strategic priority to implement organizational best practices and policies/procedures.
- Co-Lead with the implementation of the Activating Hiland Initiative and strategic plan.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field; 7-10 years of operational leadership experience.
- Progressive career trajectory within a nonprofit organization, preferably in education or an artistic environment.
- Proven track record of improving operational efficiency and driving institutional change
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis and operational management tools.
- Ability to excel within an environment that promotes community and child development.
- Resilient business acumen, strategic planning, highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated technical acumen: Microsoft Suite-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Cloud-based systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Aptitude to perform at both the strategic and hands-on level; results driven; service oriented, self-motivated with ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- High level of integrity, trust and confidentiality.
- Excellent judgment, creative problem solving, adaptability, and multi-tasking skills within a high impact environment.
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment in a high-level consultative/leadership role within a growing environment.
