The Senior Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) must have a strong sustainability background.
You will take on a pivotal leadership role, guiding the enhancement of the organization’s environmental, health, safety, security, and sustainability initiatives across global operations. This position is not just about compliance with local, national, and international EHS regulations; it’s about cultivating a vibrant culture of safety and environmental stewardship while championing continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will inspire and lead a dynamic global team of EHS professionals, engage collaboratively with diverse departments, and spearhead transformative initiatives designed to mitigate risks and promote sustainable practices around the world.
Requirements
- Over 10 years of experience in environmental health and safety management, specifically within manufacturing and distribution centers.
- Extensive knowledge of EHS regulations, sustainability reporting, best practices, and EHS management systems. Must be a solution-oriented team player with the ability to lead a team and collaborate effectively across multiple sites, regions, and functions.
- Working knowledge of ISO and OSHA standards.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership : Develop and implement global Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Sustainability strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and reporting requirements, aligning with organizational objectives.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of EHS and Sustainability professionals across multiple regions. Ensure consistent standards while providing opportunities for professional growth.
- Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement proactive strategies to mitigate risks related to environmental, health, safety, security, and sustainability.
- Incident Oversight: Oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective and preventive actions to enhance safety and prevent recurrence.
- Training & Development: Design and deliver EHS training programs to educate employees at all levels on EHS systems, their responsibilities, and best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with departments such as Operations, Legal, Research and Development, Supply Chain, and HR to integrate EHS and Sustainability considerations into business processes and decision-making. Establish networks within sites to communicate and share best practices.
- Performance Monitoring: Identify, track, analyze, and report on EHS performance metrics, ensuring timely and accurate communication to senior leadership and regulatory bodies as required.
- Regulatory Awareness : Stay informed about emerging EHS trends, regulations, and best practices, adapting the organization’s programs to maintain compliance ahead of requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization in interactions with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and external stakeholders to promote EHS excellence.
- Audit Readiness: Ensure readiness for EHS audits and any third-party audits of EHS Management Systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. or B.A. in a related Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or Technical discipline.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
