Job Description
Our client, a leading medical devices manufacturing company, is looking for a Senior Product Designer (Human Factors). This is for an initial duration of 12 months and is located in San Diego, CA.
Job Type: Contract (Candidates must be able to work on W2 without VISA sponsorship)
Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience in product design, with a proven track record of launching digital products in SaaS or platform environments
- Ability to independently own end-to-end design initiatives across multiple complex projects
- Experience designing for enterprise software or healthcare platforms is a strong advantage
- Portfolio demonstrating deep strengths in interaction design, visual design, and design systems, with clear business and user impact
- Strong collaboration skills, especially in remote or distributed teams
- Ability to work closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to define problems, explore solutions, and drive execution
- Familiarity with designing for technical and regulated domains, including comfort with constraints and tradeoffs
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Axure, Adobe Creative Suite)
- Experience with usability testing and applying insights to iterate and improve product experiences
- A growth mindset, openness to feedback, and willingness to adapt and learn
- Empathy for users and teammates, and the resilience to navigate ambiguity with confidence
- Exceptional communication skills—able to articulate design decisions, rationale, and impact across varying audiences
Responsibilities:
- Design user-centric experiences and workflows that help healthcare professionals and administrators achieve their goals with clarity and efficiency
- Collaborate throughout the product development lifecycle, contributing from early discovery and ideation through delivery and iteration
- Create holistic, cross-functional experiences across the platform—spanning areas like user and role management, organizational setup, compliance and security configuration, data and interface management, feature configuration, analytics, reporting, and branding
- Produce wireframes, prototypes, user flows, high-fidelity designs, and design specifications
- Validate concepts through formative usability testing and incorporate feedback to improve solutions
- Partner with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation and resolve edge cases or technical constraints
- Actively contribute to and evolve the Connected Design System, collaborating with our design system team
- Support platform-wide consistency by partnering with other platform product designers
- Participate in customer discovery, design critiques, roadmap planning, and cross-functional team rituals
- Present design solutions to internal teams and customers with clarity and confidence
- Track the success of launched features through data and user feedback, iterating to drive continuous improvement
- Champion design thinking, user advocacy, and design excellence across the organization
Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is between $50-$54 per hour.
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include (geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate).
