Moby’s is a high-volume, casual-upscale restaurant in East Hampton, NY, known for our vibrant atmosphere, coastal Italian-inspired cuisine, and exceptional guest experience. We are now hiring an experienced Maître D’ to join our front-of-house team for the 2025 summer season.
About the Role:
As Maître D’, you are the face of the dining room. Responsible for creating a warm, welcoming environment for all guests, managing nightly reservations and guest flow, and ensuring seamless coordination with the host team. You’ll work closely with VIPs and regulars, overseeing the front desk with confidence, charm, and precision.
We are looking for someone personable, fast-thinking, highly organized, and guest-focused; with a passion for hospitality and a sharp eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the host team and manage guest flow in a high-volume setting (300–400 covers/night)
Maintain and optimize the reservation book using Resy
Greet and seat guests with warmth and efficiency
Build rapport with regulars, VIPs, and the local community
Communicate with management, kitchen, and service staff to ensure smooth service
Uphold Moby’s standards of professionalism, presentation, and hospitality
Qualifications:
3+ years as a Maître D’ or Head Host in a high-volume, respected restaurant
Strong proficiency in Resy and Google Suite
Comfortable overseeing a host team in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and time management skills
Polished, professional appearance and demeanor
Detail-oriented, proactive, and guest-centric
Desire to learn and grow within the hospitality industry
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
Must be able to move quickly and frequently throughout the property, including climbing stairs
