Director, Strategic Planning and Performance

Your Role

Reporting to the Vice President of Medical Care Solutions, the role of the Director of Planning and Performance Enablement is critical to the success of Blue Shield of California and the Medical Care Solutions team. This individual will lead Medical Care Solutions teams in achieving department goals that create value for members, providers, brokers, and employers. The Director will oversee all aspects of business transformation, strategic planning, workforce optimization, incident management, communication, and employee engagement. Additionally, they will foster support and partnerships with key leadership and enterprise stakeholders, including operations, general managers, transformation, network management, quality, IT, finance, and growth, to prioritize and execute BSC's key growth initiatives.

Your Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum of 10 years relevant experience, including 6 years in management
• At least 10 years of experience in a health plan or managed care organization
• Broad management and leadership knowledge to lead project teams and multiple areas, with mastery-level skills in a managed care environment
• Experience supporting health plan markets, sales, and account management preferred
• Lean Sigma background preferred
• Proven experience managing healthcare projects in complex, fast-paced environments
• Exceptional communication and program/project management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at an executive level
• Experience managing mid-to-large teams and influencing cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of current and emerging technology and product trends to guide strategic initiatives
• Ability to develop simple, elegant solutions to complex problems
• Desire and ability to mentor team members and promote professional growth through leadership by example
