Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000
The Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) and the ELM Action Fund (ELM AF) advocate for policy change and build political power to meet the scale and urgency of our environmental challenges. We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader for New England for Offshore Wind (NE4OSW), a broad coalition promoting responsible offshore wind as a source of clean, reliable, affordable American energy. The Sr. Director of Offshore Wind will be an integral member of a 23-person team. Read our purpose, mission, vision, and values for ELM and the ELM Action Fund .
The Senior Director will provide strategic vision and leadership for policy and politics, ensuring New England harnesses renewable offshore wind resources responsibly and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Vision & Leadership: Lead offshore wind advocacy across New England, review priorities, and allocate resources effectively.
- Identify Opportunities: Pursue emerging opportunities in offshore wind development, transmission planning, community engagement, and infrastructure.
- Political & Market Dynamics: Stay ahead of political, policy, and market changes at all levels.
- Build Influence: Enhance ELM and NE4OSW’s stature, engage stakeholders, and serve as a spokesperson.
- Communications: Lead strategic campaigns with the communications team.
- Collaboration: Work with policy teams to advance offshore wind policies and electoral efforts.
- Political Impact: Evaluate and support opportunities in other New England states.
- Fundraising: Engage with foundations and donors, cultivating relationships.
Coalition Strategy & Power:
- Drive strategy for NE4OSW coalition, managing and mentoring staff and coalition members.
- Represent ELM and NE4OSW publicly and develop advocacy campaigns.
Policy & Advocacy:
- Design policy proposals for offshore wind permitting, transmission, and markets.
- Advise on regulatory strategies, monitor legislative activity, and craft advocacy materials.
Leadership & Staff Management:
- Lead a team of 2+ staff and consultants, fostering a collaborative culture.
Qualifications:
- Passion for ELM and NE4OSW missions.
- Deep expertise in offshore wind.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Commitment to racial justice and organizational inclusivity.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of New England legislative and political landscape.
- Extensive network in energy policy sectors.
- Experience with grant writing and stakeholder engagement.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary of $110,000-$130,000 depending on experience. Includes generous paid time off, health/dental insurance, HSA, and a 403(b) plan with match.
Location & Hours:
Based in Boston, MA, with periodic travel. Hybrid work environment.
