Chief Financial Officer (, CA, United States)

We are seeking a hands-on and entrepreneurial CFO to lead the financial strategy, planning, and execution for a construction and specialty contracting company. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in construction finance, with experience building out finance departments, implementing scalable systems and processes, and delivering timely, actionable reporting. This role requires someone who is both strategic and tactical and equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Financial Leadership

• Serve as a key member of the executive team, shaping overall company strategy and growth plans
• Develop and manage long-term financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes
• Provide forward-looking insights and scenario modeling to support decision-making
• Build and implement internal financial and operational reporting processes
• Oversee month-end and year-end close; ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP
• Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Build out the finance and accounting function
• Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing team as the organization grows
• Partner with field and operations leaders to improve financial literacy and accountability

Systems & Process Improvement

• Implement new systems, tools, and technology
• Streamline workflows to increase efficiency and reduce manual tasks
• Create dashboards and KPIs that align with business goals

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred
• 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, ideally in construction, contracting, or a related project-based industry
• ERP systems implementation
