Job Description
Certification Details BLS ACLS PALS TNCC Job Details Travel ER RN position at Northeast Regional Medical Center, part of Community Health Systems in Kirksville, Missouri. Serve patients presenting to the ER of all ages from neonates to elderly. Designated as Level III trauma center, ACC Chest Pain/STEMI center, and Joint Commission Acute Ready Stroke Center. Handle patients from ESI level 1-5 with an average 4-5:1 patient ratio at ESI level 3. Care for stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis patients. Perform clinical skills including PIV, NG/OG tubes, foleys, splinting, wound care, US guided IV. Assist with art line, central line, and chest tube placement. Answer call lights and transport patients. Board psych patients in ER until placement is found; make calls for psych patient placement on nights and weekends. Float to other departments if not needed in ED; average float out of ED is 1 shift in 13 weeks. Use EMR EDIS Medhost and Omnicell medication dispense system. No Bar Code Medication Administration (scanning) in ED. Mix some medication drips with vial to bag adapter on night shift. Responsible for EMTALA paperwork per hospital policies. Job Requirements At least 1 years ED RN experience in a hospital setting required. At least 1 year of travel experience required. Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC. Required skills: triage, PIV, port access/deaccess, foley placement, NG/OG placement, wound care, splint/OCL application. Preferred skill: US guided IV. Schedule Information Shift: Days, 6a-6:30p. Duration: 13 weeks. Start: ASAP. 48hr guarantees are NOT available. Blocked scheduling may be requested. Unit Specific Information ER unit with patients from neonates to elderly. Must be able to handle ESI level 1-5 patients. Float to other departments if not needed in ED. Use of EMR EDIS Medhost and Omnicell medication dispense system. Additional Details ER is a Level III trauma center, ACC Chest Pain/STEMI center, and Joint Commission Acute Ready Stroke Center. ER RNs must be able to handle stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis patients. Agency and Permanent staff are placed in same float rotation.
