Job Description
Certification Details BLS ACLS PALS TNCC Job Details Travel ER RN position at Northeast Regional Medical Center, Kirksville, Missouri. Serve patients presenting to the ER of all ages from neonates to elderly. Facility is a Level III trauma center, ACC Chest Pain/STEMI center, and Joint Commission Acute Ready Stroke Center. Handle patients from ESI level 1-5 with a 4-5:1 patient ratio, average ESI level 3. Care for stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis patients. Perform clinical skills including PIV, NG/OG tubes, foleys, splinting, wound care, US guided IV. Assist with art line, central line, and chest tube placement. Answer call lights and transport patients. Board psych patients in ER until placement found; make calls for psych patient placement on nights and weekends. Float to other departments if not needed in ED; average float out of ED is 1 shift in 13 weeks. Use EMR EDIS Medhost and Omnicell medication dispense system. No Bar Code Medication Administration (scanning) in ED currently. Mix medication drips with vial to bag adapter on night shift. Responsible for EMTALA paperwork per regulatory guidelines. Job Requirements At least 1 years ED RN experience in a hospital setting required. At least 1 year of travel experience required. Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC. Required clinical skills: triage, PIV, port access/deaccess, foley placement, NG/OG placement, wound care, splint/OCL application. Preferred skill: US guided IV. Schedule Information Shift: Days, 6a-6:30p. 48-hour guarantees are NOT available. Blocked scheduling may be requested. Unit Specific Information Emergency Department (ED) unit. Handle patients from neonates to elderly. Manage stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis patients. Float to other departments as needed. Use EMR EDIS Medhost system. Additional Details ER RNs must be able to perform all clinical skills including PIV, NG/OG tubes, foleys, splinting, wound care. Must be willing to answer call lights and transport patients. No inpatient psych unit; psych patients boarded in ER until placement. On nights and weekends, ER RNs make calls for psych patient placement. All RNs required to float to other departments if not needed in ED. Average float out of ED is 1 shift in 13 week period. Medication Dispense is Omnicell; no Bar Code Medication Administration in ED. ER RNs responsible for EMTALA paperwork per regulatory guidelines.
