Our client, a global philanthropic organization, is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Grants Management Director to join their high-impact team. The ideal candidate has 8-10 years of experience and is a collaborative leader with deep operational expertise, a systems-oriented mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This is a high-responsibility role overseeing the administration of hundreds of grants across 20+ countries and ensuring that the grantmaking infrastructure supports long-term growth and effectiveness.

Position: Grants Management Director

Location: New York, NY (on-site Monday–Thursday, remote Fridays)

Hours: Full-time

Bachelor’s Degree: Preferred

Responsibilities:

• Lead all phases of the grantmaking process, regularly enhancing systems, procedures, and tools to support growth and operational excellence.

• Administer and improve the Fluxx platform, managing relationships with external tech partners and consultants.

• Oversee financial reconciliations, compliance monitoring, and internal audit preparation across multiple countries.

• Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on grant operations strategy, process design, and implementation.

• Manage and coach a small team of grants staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.

• Partner with finance and program colleagues to ensure cohesive, well-coordinated grant delivery.

• Create and lead internal trainings to boost organization-wide familiarity with grants protocols and platforms.

• Step in as needed to perform administrative grant tasks, maintaining firsthand knowledge of day-to-day operations.

Qualifications:

• At least 8 years of relevant experience in grants management, with a minimum of 2 years overseeing people or teams.

• Expertise in using grants management tools; direct experience with Fluxx is a significant plus.

• Demonstrated success building operational systems and ensuring compliance across teams and jurisdictions.

• Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple initiatives and deadlines effectively.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a polished and professional presence.

• Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills; leads with empathy and sound judgment.

• Deep commitment to social impact work and building strong philanthropic infrastructure.

• Thrives in a lean, agile environment that values humor, initiative, and a collaborative spirit.
