About the Role:
This leadership position oversees multiple grading crews across active construction sites. With dozens of concurrent projects in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, the Grading Superintendent plays a critical role in field operations, crew leadership, site productivity, and quality control. This is a growth-driven opportunity within a company experiencing expansion across its core divisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all on-site grading activities for assigned projects.
- Lead approximately 12 grading crews, each averaging 7 team members.
- Ensure field operations meet design specifications, grading tolerances, and compaction standards.
- Oversee mass excavation, site balancing, and finish grading efforts.
- Manage day-to-day scheduling, sequencing of work, and crew assignments.
- Conduct daily site inspections and enforce safety protocols.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and other internal departments.
- Communicate clearly with subcontractors, surveyors, and equipment operators.
- Manage GPS machine control and ensure correct equipment usage and maintenance.
- Conduct daily site meetings including safety briefings and production updates.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of heavy civil grading/earthwork experience.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory, foreman, or superintendent capacity.
- Strong technical knowledge of grading operations, site prep, and equipment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting civil/grading plans and survey stakes.
- Familiarity with GPS-based grading systems (e.g., Trimble or equivalent).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and scheduling skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred but not required.
