Job Description

The Core Tax Services Senior Manager is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objections, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, and acting as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. This role involves understanding potential tax issues, communicating risks, and making top-level decisions regarding filing, preparation, and resolution of questions from federal and state agencies. Additionally, the Senior Manager will participate in marketing, networking, and business development while maintaining client relationships.

Job Duties

• Tax Compliance: Ensure client compliance with authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens; conduct reviews; plan for early recognition of issues.
• Research: Identify research needs; frame issues; report analysis; involve specialists as appropriate.
• ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals: Apply policies proactively; review tax provisions and workpapers; explain components to clients.
• Tax Consulting: Develop and recommend methods to maximize client benefits; manage inquiries and protests; implement strategies.
• Tax Specialization: Develop expertise in specific tax areas; train others; conduct external training.
• Strategy Development: Research and implement new tax strategies; lead marketing campaigns; present strategies to clients.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervise associates and senior associates; review work; train team; act as career advisor; manage workload; provide feedback.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• 8+ years relevant experience; supervisory experience required.
• CPA, Attorney, or EA certification required.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong communication, analytical, research, and decision-making skills; team-oriented; capable of developing client relationships; executive presence.

Additional Information

Salary ranges vary by location, e.g., California: $146,000 - $200,000, Washington: $158,400 - $215,400, etc.
