A respected law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney with a background in pharmaceutical patent disputes to support its growing Intellectual Property practice. This role focuses on litigation involving the Hatch-Waxman Act and related regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will have law firm experience, technical knowledge in life sciences, and a record of excellence in advocacy and legal writing. The position offers exposure to high-impact IP cases and collaboration with seasoned trial attorneys across the IP litigation spectrum.

Duties:

• Represent clients in patent litigation under the Hatch-Waxman Act
• Draft pleadings, briefs, and motions at various litigation stages
• Conduct fact and expert discovery, including depositions and document review
• Engage with clients, co-counsel, and opposing counsel on case strategy
• Support regulatory and technical analysis related to pharmaceutical products
• Participate in trial preparation and appellate strategy
• Maintain documentation and manage timelines across multiple matters

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of Hatch-Waxman patent litigation experience
• Proficiency in fact discovery, expert reports, and motion practice
• Excellent legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters with professionalism
• Admission to the State Bar in good standing

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, preferably Illinois

Skills:

• Strong analytical and technical writing skills
• Background in chemistry, biology, or related sciences preferred
• Detail-oriented with excellent time management and teamwork skills
• Comfortable working on complex IP issues with cross-functional teams
