Position Summary
Individuals employed by Amynta Surety Solutions who hold this position are responsible for successfully executing their responsibilities as they relate to the US Surety business line, which include but are not limited to:
- Providing an unparalleled level of commitment, service, and underwriting expertise.
- Supporting the surety needs of Fortune 1000, publicly traded, and large privately held companies.
- Delivering results by understanding the unique needs and challenges of our clients’ business, taking a thoughtful solutions-oriented approach to the underwriting process, and working in partnership with our dedicated Surety Legal/Claims Group.
- Proven ability to directly handle a $7,500,000 portfolio.
Will have knowledge in target industries and businesses that include but are not limited to: Energy/Oil and Gas, Mining and Minerals, Healthcare, Public Utilities, Industrials, Technology, Manufacturing, Transportation, Waste Services, Insurance, and Financial Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with assigned brokers to develop new business aligned with Department strategy and goals, including identifying and appointing new brokers where warranted.
- Establish and communicate premium objectives with target brokers.
- Review, negotiate, and accept or decline submitted business using assigned underwriting authority, consulting with the Executive Vice President as needed.
- Adhere to Amynta’s AUP and PPD standards regarding underwriting, pricing, file maintenance, and account monitoring.
- Maintain account information in electronic files and the WGT Surety System, including critical data points.
- Support market associations by attending events (NASBP, SFAA, RIMS).
- Contribute to and collaborate with various Amynta initiatives and department staff.
- Support underwriting staff by maintaining accurate data supporting the booking process.
- Review monthly control reports for data accuracy and manage account information proactively.
- Establish and maintain CIQ/S&P Watchlist and Alerts, and alert senior management of deterioration in account status.
- Support team collaboration and contribute to achieving business objectives, including extensive travel as required.
Non-Essential Functions
- Participate in professional and technical training, obtaining qualifications as needed.
- Comply with all regulatory and internal policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of Surety underwriting experience required.
- Experience with Surety practices and procedures; industry licenses or designations are desirable.
- Financial background or degree preferred.
