Impact Automation is looking for an emerging CFO to support our rapid growth and increasingly complex operations. You will be an integral part of Impact’s business operations team, with a focus on cash flow forecasting and job costing for multiple customers’ projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable being hands-on, competent at financial data analysis, and thrives in the fast-changing world of growth stage companies.

Responsibilities
- Financial Performance Management:
- Develop and implement financial models to forecast, track, and analyze business unit performance for cash flow, profitability and WIP.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Responsible for timely and accurate GAAP based monthly financial statements and monthly board package.
- Tax Strategy & Compliance:
- Take the lead in overseeing and resolving all tax-related matters , including corporate income tax and sales tax compliance, planning, and audits in 30+ states and Canada.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Contract & Risk Management:
- Oversee subcontract management , ensuring flow down terms, performance contracts, and cash flow is managed to minimize risk.
- Establish contracts with new customers , reviewing financial clauses and payment terms.
- ERP System Leadership (Acumatica):
- Become an expert on our ERP system, Acumatica , leveraging its capabilities to the fullest.
- Drive the generation of useful dashboards and reports that provide real-time insights for strategic decision-making.
- Cash Management & Strategy:
- Oversee the strategic use of cash , optimizing working capital used for sales, marketing, product development, and outside investment opportunities.
- Manage the treasury process to maximize return on excess cash/working capital, including the prudent use of debt when appropriate.
- Payroll & Benefits Administration:
- Support the payroll manager to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of all payroll and 401K activities. Our employees are located in 8 states and our remote workforce is growing.
- Accounting & Audit Support:
- Support the accounting manager and staff with all project accounting activities , ensuring accurate revenue recognition on an accrual basis and cost tracking.
- Actively participate in financial audits , serving as a primary point of contact and ensuring smooth processes.
- Lead initiatives and processes to increase our financial security , including internal controls and fraud prevention.
- Compute accurate labor rates and overhead allocations.
- Strategically manage company indirect costs, including insurance and software licenses, to optimize efficiency, minimize risk, and increase profitability.
- Provide coverage for accounting staff during vacations and busy periods.
- Grants & Strategic Funding:
- Research and apply for grants specifically for manufacturing, research and development and training initiatives, securing non-dilutive funding opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in accounting, job costing, and forecasting
Preferences
- CPA certification
- Experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a small to mid-sized company. Public accounting experience is also preferred.
- Demonstrated eagerness and hunger to take on increased responsibility and grow into a strategic financial leadership role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems is essential; direct experience with Acumatica is a significant advantage.
- Solid understanding of tax compliance (income and sales tax).
- Experience with contract review and negotiation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
This is a full-time job working in our Columbia, MD office from Monday through Friday. Occasional work on the weekends is expected.
The successful candidate will be required to provide documentation demonstrating the right to work in the United States upon hire and subject to the E-Verify program.
